Examing a Painting

30 Minutes: Pre-Seminar
- Point out phrases on the board and explain how they are to be used.
- Distribute copies of the painting.
- 2-3 minutes for silent observations. Suggest to students that they may want to list observations.
- "Round Robin" observing using phrases on the board.
- List observations on chart paper.
10 Minutes: Biography of the Painter
30 Minutes: Seminar
Opening Question: What would be a good title for this painting?
30 Minutes: Post-Seminar
Give actual title.
- Distribute paper.
- Write opinion: Is this title appropriate? Support your answer.
